At Shelf Juniors we have a named club welfare officer. Our appointed person is Julie Ratcliffe. Julie's role ensures that every coach, helper, volunteer has undergone a full FA CRB check and they fulfill their role in safeguarding children. At Shelf we take a very responsible outlook at all aspects of safety for our players and support the Government's policy through 'Every Child Matters: Change for Children' programme'.

 

We follow and take a great interest in the grassroots Respect programme. We have very clear policies that we adhere to and we promote the Respect programme throughout our players, coaches and especially parents. We believe that our players should be able to play in a safe, positive environment for them to be able to enjoy football. The Respect programme is not a short term campaign but a long term programme of change to bring about a change in attitude to referees and the conduct of some supporters on the sidelines.

 

Personally Julie would like to encourage all parents, coaches and players to visit http://www.TheFA.com/Respect  and read the codes of conduct and what is expected of you as a player, coach, parent etc.
